Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey joins select group to cap off amazing year

Few players in NFL history have put up numbers like Christian McCaffrey has this year. We break down his 1000/1000 season.

Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey joined a select group Sunday after becoming just the third player in NFL history to eclipse 1,000 receiving yards and 1,000 rushing yards in one season. He fell just 133 receiving yards short of this mark in 2018, but got the job done this time. The Stanford product has etched his name in the record books alongside Marshall Faulk and Roger Craig.

McCaffrey only managed 26 rushing yards on nine carries through three quarters against the New Orleans Saints, but managed to find the end zone. His team trailed by 32 points entering the fourth quarter.

Carolina has a lot of issues to address this offseason, but McCaffrey’s production won’t be one of them. Regardless of what direction the Panthers go in next year, he’ll be a focal point in the offense and one of the most dynamic all-purpose players in the NFL. Hats off to Christian McCaffrey.
