The Luka Doncic World Tour heads to New Orleans with the Mavericks (13-6) taking on the Pelicans (6-14). Doncic became one of three players to finish a calendar month averaging a triple-double, joining Russell Westbrook and Oscar Robertson after posting 32.4 points, 10.4 assists and 10.3 rebounds per game in November. Doncic and the Mavs are coming off a huge win over the Los Angeles Lakers as well. Will the Pelicans be able to stop him? Have the Pelicans stopped anyone this season? The answer is most likely no.
Mavericks vs. Pelicans spread, over/under, money line
Spread: Pelicans (+4)
Money line: Mavericks (-186), Pelicans (+155)
You’d think a team coming off a win on the road vs. arguably the best team in the NBA would be favored by more than 4.0 points against a 6-14 team, but hey. The Mavs only have an all-world talent in Doncic, no biggie. So I think this is a favorable spread for Dallas and that would be the way I attack this game. The O/U also seems generous considering how fast both teams play and how inept the Pels are on defense. Same goes for the money line, we’re basically all-in on Doncic and the Mavericks in this one.
Luka Doncic player props
Considering New Orleans is poor at defending the 3-point line, I think Doncic has a shot to hit his OVER of 31.5 points. His 3-point total is also set at 3.5, which seems like a gift from God. Or just a gift from the oddsmakers. He’s also +185 to record a triple-double in this game. That may be more of a stretch, but I think the O/U of 50.5 points + assists + rebounds may be more attainable.
