Report: Doug Marrone ‘likely’ out after 2019 season

The Jaguars are a mess, so this is not surprising news.

The NFL’s Black Monday is four weeks away, but we already have an early glimpse at some potential candidates to get fired. The latest news has the Jacksonville Jaguars “likely” to move on from head coach Doug Marrone after this season, according to NFL Network reporter Mike Garafolo.

This is not shocking news given the state of the team. It also follows word over the weekend from reporter Jason La Canfora that the organization is considering major changes. They’ve invested in all sorts of talent but have come up short in turning things around. Nick Foles has been a bust, and the team sits at 4-8 after an embarrassing Week 13 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Jaguars will not be the only team resetting things. New York Giants head coach Pat Shurmur is firmly on the hot seat, and Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett is perpetually in that position. There will be plenty of competition for the ever-evolving list of hot young coordinators that get the next crack at a job.
