Betting split update: Florida is a huge favorite over Virginia in the Orange Bowl, but the betting public at DraftKings Sportsbook is still prepared to lay the big number. 69 percent of the handle is on Florida (-15) and 79 percent of the handle is on Florida (-625) on the money line. 73 percent of the handle is on the point total going over 54.

In a matchup between two fantastic college football coaches, the Florida Gators and Virginia Cavaliers are matched up on the eve of New Year’s Eve in the Orange Bowl.

Florida is a double-digit win team in each of his two years in Gainesville, taking over for a team that went 4-7 the previous season. Kyle Trask filled in for an injured Feleipe Franks in September, and he’s been a solid quarterback for the Gators. A big strength for this Florida team is getting to the quarterback, ranked fifth in the country in sacks. This could be an issue as Virginia ranks 11th in the ACC in allowing sacks.

Virginia put together a solid season as this program continues to improve with Bronco Mendenhall running the show in his third season. Virginia won the ACC Coastal before being dismantled by Clemson in the conference title game. Cavaliers football is definitely on the rise, and they might have the most underrated head coach in the sport.

The Best Bet

The Virginia offensive line versus Florida defensive line matchup is going to be the difference in this one. The Gators are going to be in the backfield all day long, and Virginia quarterback Bryce Perkins will be running for his life. For this reason, I’m actually going in on two picks for this one with Florida covering and the under. Maybe wait till the last possible second to bet this game on the chance you can get this at 14 or less, but Florida should cover regardless.

Pick: Florida -14.5, Under 54.5
