Two D/ST sleepers for wild card DFS

We look at two daily fantasy football value D/STs for the wild card round.

We have eight defenses to choose from this week, with prices ranging from the Vikings at $2,200 to the Patriots at $3,400. There are enough high-priced players this weekend who are worth starts, that we need to find any savings wherever possible. Below, I’ll give you two D/STs I like for a little cost savings this weekend. Don’t forget the overvalued D/ST units as well.

Tennessee Titans ($2,400) at Patriots

Considering a defense against the Patriots in the playoffs sounds like the ravings of a mad man and it may be, but we can’t discount what we’ve seen from this Patriots offense of late, which hasn’t been much. Their offensive line remains strong and Tom Brady isn’t going to hand out too many pick-sixes like he did to the Dolphins last week, but their upside to put up forty points in a rout has nearly vanished while the Titans have a good overall defense. Only the Vikings going up against the red-hot Saints offense in New Orleans is cheaper than the Titans.

Houston Texans ($2,600) vs. Bills

Before resting their starters last week the Bills played three games where they totaled 17 points in each. They played tough defenses but it illustrates how the Bills offense is not a powerhouse by any means. On the season, they’ve averaged 19.6 points per game, which ranks them 23rd in the league. Houston’s defense isn’t good, but a traveling Bills team in the playoffs isn’t one to be scared of, especially when you consider some of the other offenses going this weekend. The Bills themselves make for a good D/ST play, but they cost $500 more, and I expect we’ll need the savings this weekend.
