How and what to watch in the Alamo Bowl between Utah and Texas

Settle in on New Year’s Eve to check out Utah and Texas in the Alamo Bowl and the final game of 2019. We break down what to watch, how to watch via live online stream, and a best bet.

Betting split update: The betting public backing favored Utah in a big way. 59 percent of the point spread handle is on Utah (-7), and 64 percent of the money line handle is on Utah (-265). 60 percent of the point total handle is on the over (55.5).

We will close out 2019 with the Alamo Bowl between the Utah Utes and Texas Longhorns.

It was a special season for Utah as they came one win away from qualifying for the College Football Playoff. Instead, they fell all the way down to the Alamo Bowl after an 11-2 season. The Utes are led by punishing running back Zack Moss and one of the most exciting players in the sport with quarterback Tyler Huntley.

For Texas, 2019 did not go as planned. The Longhorns finished 7-5 going into a season with pretty high expectations going in. Texas fired its defensive coordinator Tim Beck after the regular season. The Longhorns’ depth at linebacker took a hit when David Gbenda and Byron Vaughns were sent home for violating team rules.

Game Time/TV Channel/Streaming

The Valero Alamo Bowl will begin at 7:30 p.m. ET in San Antonio, Texas on Tuesday, Dec. 31 and can be seen on ESPN and streamed on WatchESPN.

Point Spread, Totals, Odds, Trends

Spread: Utah (-7) vs. Texas
Point Total: 55 O/U (-110)
Money line: Utes (-265), Longhorns (+210)

- Utah is 8-1 in its last nine games against the spread.

- Texas is 2-4 against the spread in its past six games.

The Best Bet

The motivation factor is all on Utah here. This is one of the best Utah teams we have seen in a while, and its stars are seniors playing in their final college football game. I think the Utes will be ready to play, and it’s been such a disappointing season for Texas. I’ll take the Utes in the final game of 2019.

Pick: Utah -7
