Top 50 running back standard rankings for Week 14 fantasy football

We take you through some of the best running backs going in Week 14 for fantasy football, including a few viable streamers.

UPDATE

Le’Veon Bell is out with an illness. Bilal Powell is next in line to be the lead back in a good matchup with the Dolphins.

Josh Jacobs is officially questionable with his shoulder injury. If he does play, we can’t expect a big workload. DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard would split work in relief.

Jordan Howard likely won’t play, giving Miles Sanders another start.

Damien Williams is out and Darrell Williams is on I.R. LeSean McCoy will be the lead back while Darwin Thompson and Spencer Ware will get work behind him.

Marlon Mack will play this week and doesn’t sound like he will have limitations. But a matchup with the Bucs and any chance he will share work more than usual isn’t a great spot for his upside to hit.

Your Top-5 standard running backs last week were James White, Derrius Guice, Rashaad Penny, Raheem Mostert and Derrick Henry. That’s a Top-5 I don’t think anyone could have predicted. Henry is the only back in there we would expect and James White is of course not someone we’d imagine taking over standard scoring in Week 13. Of course, this is what makes fantasy football fun and also infuriating.

Injury/Status Report

James Conner is questionable for this week and may practice but isn’t looking great to take on the Cardinals. Benny Snell would again lead the way if he can’t go.

Ronald Jones was benched for missing a blitz pickup in Week 13, likely giving Peyton Barber more work moving forward.

Dalvin Cook says he will “definitely” play this week but we’ll need to see him get in a practice or two to be sure. Even if he does play, we could see more Alexander Mattison if Cook isn’t 100 percent.

Kyle Shanahan is “optimistic” that Matt Breida will play this week. If he does, the 49ers running back situation gets even murkier.

Andy Reid said there is a “good chance” Darrel Williams (hamstring) doesn’t play and didn’t update Damien Williams’ injury. If both Williams are out, LeSean McCoy and Darwin Thompson would both see work against the Patriots.

RB Ranking Tiers

Tier 1

Christian McCaffrey had a un-McCaffrey game last week, but his track record keeps him firmly in the top position, even in standard leagues.

Derrick Henry has hit a stride that you can’t fade in either standard or PPR leagues.

If Dalvin Cook is truly ready to go, he should smash Detroit like he did for 142 yards and two touchdowns in Week 7. If he can’t, Alexander Mattison has the same upside.

Tier 2

Aaron Jones has a nice matchup and just missed two touchdowns last week but he’s also splitting time with Jamaal Williams. If he wasn’t, he’d be Tier 1.

Sony Michel gets one of the best matchups he’ll see this season. Game script will be important, but he’s still getting enough work to have good upside in standard leagues this week against the Chiefs.

RB Streamers

Benny Snell should get plenty of work in a decent matchup in Arizona.

Even if Dalvin Cook does play, I expect Mattison to see enough work to be worth a flex play against a bad Detroit defense.
