Everything was going according to plan on a normal Tuesday night in the NBA. The Magic and Pistons had taken care of business. The Mavericks, Rockets and Lakers were all seemingly coasting to victory. And then, it all went down hill. Sure, the Mavs ended up winning, but ALL DOWN HILL. Wait, the Lakers covered also. So really just the Raptors-Heat and Rockets-Spurs games, but still. On Tuesday, we ended up going 4-3 on the seven-game slate, which could be worse.
We’re back at it tonight with the Bucks going up against the Pistons with a 12-game winning streak on the line for Giannis Antetokounmpo and Co. Let’s get into my picks for tonight’s games.
Bucks (-9) @ Pistons
Warriors (+2.5) @ Hornets
Magic (+1) vs. Suns
Heat (+5.5) @ Celtics
Nets (-3) @ Hawks
Pacers (-1) @ Thunder
Bulls (-6) vs. Grizzlies
Mavericks (-4.5) vs. Timberwolves
Lakers (+2.5) @ Jazz
Trail Blazers (-4.5) vs. Kings
So I’m going to say the Bucks cover tonight and extend the streak to 13 games. I think the Pistons may rest Blake Griffin, which would make Milwaukee a shoe-in for the W. I like the Heat getting points on the road vs. the Celtics with no Marcus Smart.
The Nets at -3 vs. the Hawks makes no sense to me. Brooklyn has been great without Kyrie Irving and the Hawks had lost 10 in a row prior to their last game. I’m sketchy on the Bulls covering a big spread like this, but the Grizzlies are shorthanded and Zach LaVine is hot.
If you read my Lakers-Nuggets breakdown, you know Rule No. 23 is always take the Lakers when they’re getting points. I think the Blazers bounce back against the Kings at home after being blown out by the Clippers. Though, I’ll admit my patience on Portland is running thin.
