How to handle betting on Rockets-Raptors

The Rockets are coming off a controversial loss, so can they refocus with a tough road matchup against Toronto? We break down the lines and odds on DK Sportsbook.

The Houston Rockets (13-7) are coming off a controversial loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday night. A James Harden disallowed dunk may have cost them that game, but now the Rockets must move forward. The League may investigate the issue, but for now, they’re 13-7 and have lost four of six games. The Toronto Raptors (15-5) are coming off a tough OT loss of their own, to the Miami Heat, but had won seven in a row prior to that.

Kylw Lowry (thumb) is back in the lineup for the Raps and Nick Nurse didn’t waste any time easing him back into action. Lowry played 41 minutes in his return vs. the Heat, scoring 12 points with 11 assists and six rebounds. Toronto enters this game fully healthy. The Rockets have a few guys to track. Ben McLemore (eye) took a shot to the eye and may not play, while Danuel House (illness) is questionable. Let’s take a look at the lines on DK Sportsbook:

Rockets vs. Raptors spread, over/under, money line

Spread: Raptors (-2.5)
Over/Under: 230
Money line: Raptors (-130), Rockets (+110)

I know the Rockets have the best player on the floor in James Harden, but I really like the Raptors here. Toronto is 9-1 at home this season and has a full rotation for the first time since early November, not even. Lowry looked fine in his return and Houston is thin in the front court. That lack of size should hurt the Rockets against Serge Ibaka, Pascal Siakam and Marc Gasol. I think this spread is generous to the Raptors and that’s how I’d pick it. As for the O/U, 230 is a high number, though it makes sense. The Rockets allow a lot of points and score a ton as well. Houston has failed to reach 117 points once in the past eight games. Toronto’s length is key and the Raps just put up 130 on the Jazz. I’ll take the OVER here also. I don’t think the ML offers much value, maybe if the Rockets were giving more plus-odds.

Prediction: Raptors 134, Rockets 127

James Harden prop bets

There isn’t a ton of value for Harden tonight, but the two lines I’m looking at give him plus-money. He’s +230 to record a double-double and +1400 to get a triple-double. I don’t think it’s out of the realm of possibility, though Russell Westbrook’s presence hurts The Beard’s prospects a bit. I do think if the Rockets are going to win tonight it’s on the back of Harden and that could lead to either of these outcomes. His point total is set at 36.5, which I think is also favorable but the line is -110.
