Can’t take the points with the Bengals two straight weeks

The Bengals stunned the Jets, but look for them to come back to earth in Week 14.

Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield and Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton shake hands before a game.

The Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns square off in a Week 14 battle of Ohio that has draft pick implications and not a whole lot else. The Bengals are favorites to secure the No. 1 overall pick, while the Browns lost a pivotal matchup last week to the Steelers and are going in the wrong direction in the playoff picture.

The Browns are currently a touchdown favorite at DraftKings Sportsbook, but the line opened at 8.5 on Sunday. The point total is 41.5, which is tied with Washington-Green Bay for the lowest total of the weekend. The Browns are -305 on the money line, while the Bengals are +260. The Browns are 4-7-1 against the spread this season and have gone over the point total five times. The Bengals are 5-6-1 against the spread and have gone over the point total three times.

Injury report

Both teams are dealing with a lot of the bumps and bruises that come along in December of the NFL season. The Bengals could be without defensive Sam Hubbard and will again be without wide receiver A.J. Green. The Browns biggest injury concern is Baker Mayfield’s hand. He bruised it last week, but after a limited Wednesday was a full participant on Thursday. He appears on track to play.

Pick against the spread

I picked the Bengals to cover against the Jets, and they got the outright upset to get rid of their zero. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Browns had a letdown game after losing to Pittsburgh, but I just can’t pick Cincinnati getting a touchdown. I would have been more comfortable early in the week at 8.5 points, but a touchdown is not enough for a bad Bengals team against a Browns team that is under-performing in a big way. Sorry Bengals fans, but I’m laying the touchdown with the Browns.
