NBA spread picks: Can Kawhi Leonard, Clippers end Bucks’ win streak?

Clippers-Bucks, Nuggets-Celtics, Lakers-Blazers among top games on Friday’s slate. We go game-by-game and pick each against the spread on DK Sportsbook.

We’ve got two big narratives in the NBA to highlight before we get into each pick against the spread. The first is the Los Angeles Clippers going to Milwaukee to try and end the Bucks’ 13-game winning streak. It’s a big matchup between two players who are familiar with each other. Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kawhi Leonard will meet for the first time since last season’s Eastern Conference Finals.

The other, a banana boat reunion between LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony when the Los Angeles Lakers take on the Portland Trail Blazers. LeBron has the Lakers on top of the West while Melo is reinventing himself in Portland, trying to lift the Blazers into the playoff picture. Here are my picks for each game against the spread on DraftKings Sportsbook.

Nets (-3) @ Hornets
Pacers (-2) @ Pistons
Magic (-3.5) @ Cavaliers
Celtics (-3.5) vs. Nuggets
Wizards (+9.5) @ Heat
Timberwolves (+4.5) @ Thunder
Bulls (-4) vs. Warriors
Clippers (+4) @ Bucks
Kings (+4.5) @ Spurs
Lakers (-4) @ Trail Blazers

As you can see, eight of my 10 picks are road teams. This may be foolish on the surface, but hear me out. The Nets have been playing great and I think they can handle the Hornets on the road. The Pacers and Magic are taking on inferior teams and have very short spreads, so I’m fine trusting them to win by more than four points each. I’m a little afraid of my Wizards pick, mostly because they don’t play defense and the Heat are pretty good. But Washington somehow beat Philly last night and I think could carry some momentum into this game, keep things close.

I’ve got the Clippers ending the Bucks winning streak so I’m obviously taking the points there. I think the Bulls keep things rolling at home and LeBron outduels Melo in Portland.
