This game features two teams coming off completely different outcomes in their Week 13 matchups. The Steelers overcame an early deficit against the Browns to win with their third-string QB Devlin Hodges ($5,900). The Cardinals, meanwhile, never got anything going against the Rams and suffered an embarrassing 34-7 blowout loss. Now, these two teams will clash in Week 14.
The Steelers, defensively, simply aren’t getting the credence they deserve. They boast a stellar run defense, a very good secondary and are holding opposing teams to an average of 18.8 points per game. Offensively, they’re still dealing with a number amount of injuries. James Conner ($7,500) and JuJu Smith-Schuster both haven’t been on the field since Week 11 and are questionable once again. That’s left Hodges with the likes of James Washington ($6,000), Diontae Johnson ($4,300) and Vance McDonald ($4,300). The Cardinals are the worst defensive team against opposing tight ends, so look for some noise from McDonald this week while Washington and Johnson should be busy against an overall poor secondary. The Cardinals don’t stop much on the ground either, leaving the door open for Jaylen Samuels ($5,000) and Benny Snell ($6,100) to handle the running back duties if Conner is out once again.
Offensively, this could be a tough game for the Cardinals. As I mentioned off the top, the Steelers have been fantastic in this aspect of their game. If you’re looking for a bounce-back from Kyler Murray ($5,800), this may not be the place for it. Lamar Jackson ($7,400) has been the only QB to run on them, as they rest have averaged just six yards a game. Taking that aspect out of Murray’s game has proven to be detrimental, as we’ve seen him throw for only 163 and 150 yards the past two weeks. Kenyan Drake ($5,200) has provided a nice spark in the run game as David Johnson ($4,200) continues to fall more and more out of the picture. But his matchup against a team that’s allowed an average of 89 rushing yards per game. As you can sense, this does not set up well for the Cardinals here in Week 14.
