When these teams faced off in Week 5, the Seahawks squeaked by with a win, 30-29. Now, they’ll travel to LA to try and make it a 2-0 series win against the Rams, who are home underdogs for only the second time this season.
After starting off with an MVP-caliber type season, Russell Wilson has certainly taken a step back as of late. He’s averaged just 224 passing yards and four total touchdowns in the past three weeks against the 49ers, Eagles and Vikings. Against the Rams, Wilson completed 17-of-23 pass attempts for 268 yards and four touchdowns. The 11.7 YPPA was also his highest mark of the season. However, the recent struggle of Wilson has also effected his receivers, as D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett have both struggled to gain any significant yardage as of late. Lockett, specifically, has just four receptions over his last four games and was shutout in Week 13 against the Vikings while drawing three targets.
Jared Goff will look to replicate his Week 5 performance after throwing for 395 yards on 29 completions and 49 attempts. While he only threw for one touchdown, it was one of his best games of the year up to that point. The Seahawks don’t pose much of a pass rush, which is vital for a successful game for Goff, as he has just a 42% completion rate when under pressure compared to the 73% when he’s not. Robert Woods saw a ridiculous 19 targets last week and has come back into the good graces with Goff, it seems. Cooper Kupp, the once-reliable WR1 in this offense has taken a step back over the last few weeks, has not exceeded more than 65 yards in four straight games. With the spread sitting as close as it is, we should expect yet another close matchup between these two teams.
