The San Francisco 49ers and New Orleans Saints are engaged in a ridiculous shootout. The Saints lead 27-21 with six minutes left in the second quarter, and that has sent this game OVER the pre-game point total of 45.
The two teams are competing for a first round bye in the playoff picture, and it’s safe to say this game is living up to the billing of two heavyweights. Saints QB Drew Brees is 15 of 18 for 179 yards and three touchdowns. Jimmy Garoppolo is 7 of 8 for 179 yards with two touchdowns.
Oh, and Emmanuel Sanders chucked a pass up to Raheem Mostert on a trick play for a 35-yard touchdown. Garoppolo handed off to a sweeping Deebo Samuel, who pitched it to Sanders, who threw it up off his back foot to a wide open Mostert. It’s on the short list for plays of the season in a game that is quickly becoming one of the most entertaining of the season.
