D.J. Chark caught 9-of-10 passes for 75 in a blowout loss to the Chargers, but was forced from the game with a lower leg injury. After the game he was seen with a walking boot on and left on a scooter. ESPN beat writer Michael DiRocco tweeted that leaving on a scooter “would indicate this is more serious than just a normal ankle sprain.”
Maybe Chark was testing out a new Christmas purchase, but in all likelihood he’s in doubt for next week’s game against the Raiders and possibly the following week against the Falcons. Both matchups are good for receivers, so Dede Westbrook looks like the next best target on the team.
Chark has had an up and down season, but has also shown elite ability. He started the season strong, catching five touchdowns through his first five games. He slowed down but continued to put together good stats. If his season were to end early, he’d finish with 67 receptions for 956 yards and eight touchdowns.
