The Philadelphia Eagles host the New York Giants on Monday Night Football to close out Week 14, with NFC East playoff positioning and draft order implications on the line. The Eagles can move into a first place tie with the Dallas Cowboys, while the Giants can remain locked into the No. 2 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
The Eagles are a nine-point favorite at DraftKings Sportsbook, with the point total set at 44.5. The Eagles are -385 on the money line, while the Giants are +320. Both teams are 4-8 against the spread, with the Eagles going over the point total six times and the Giants doing so seven times. The Giants have won nine of the last ten in this series and covered the spread six times. The matchup has gone over the point total seven times.
Injury report
The biggest news is Daniel Jones’ high ankle sprain. The rookie QB will not play and that means we welcome back Eli Manning to our lives! The veteran makes his first start since Week 2 and could be in line for a couple starts given Jones’ injury. The Giants will also once again be without their top two tight ends, Evan Engram and Rhett Ellison.
The Eagles will likely be without running back Jordan Howard for a fourth straight game. Meanwhile, wide receiver Nelson Agholor and defensive end Derek Barnett appear to be game-time decisions.
Pick against the spread
I have little interest in picking either team in this matchup, but I just can’t lay nine points with this Eagles team. They could be due to bounce back against a bad Giants team, but considering how they looked last week against Miami, I just can’t do it. I understand it’s not the most insightful of picks, but I’m holding my nose and taking the points with the Giants.
