In the Buccaneers Week 15 win over the Colts, Jameis Winston missed a series due to trouble gripping the ball. He worked through the pain and got back on the field, playing well as he helped the team win. After the game, coach Bruce Arians said Winston had an “itty bitty fracture” in his throwing hand, calling it “nothing serious.”
Now beat reporter Jenna Laine reports that Winston will see a hand specialist after his hand swelled up overnight. He was able to play through the injury, and play well, but if there’s any chance of the injury worsening, they could shut him down.
The Buccaneers were eliminated from the playoffs last week, giving the team little reason to push any injured player to risk further damage. Their next game against the Lions is appetizing for fantasy but we’ll need to wait to see what the specialist advises before banking on those fantasy points.
