What is Adam Thielen’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 11?
Thielen’s only played in a small portion of one of Minnesota’s last three games, battling a nagging hamstring injury. The Vikings are calling him “week-to-week” entering a Week 11 matchup with the Broncos, so you’ll have to monitor his status. It seems likely Thielen will miss another game, but even if he does suit up, he’s likely not a trustworthy fantasy play.
What is Adam Thielen’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 10?
Thielen injured his hamstring early in Week 7, following a touchdown catch, which forced him out in Week 8. While he talked his way into playing in Week 9, he was re-injured, and exited the gamer against the Chiefs after just one target. It appears unlikely Thielen will play on Sunday night against the Cowboys, so he’s off the fantasy radar this week. Stefon Diggs should see a slight bump in value.
What is Adam Thielen’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 9?
Thielen made me do a double take when I noticed he’s the most expensive WR on the DraftKings’ Week 9 main slate. Part of it is due to some elite WR on bye and in the primetime games this week, but $7,800 does feel like a lot for a guy that missed last week with a hamstring injury, and has scored less than 10 DKFP in two of his last four games.
Assuming Thielen does play, you’re obviously locking him into your season-long lineups. From a DFS perspective, it’s a tough week to figure out his value. You can consider him in tournaments give the matchup with Kansas City, but a $900 jump in salary is risky coming off an injury.
What is Adam Thielen’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 8?
Thielen suffered a hamstring early in Sunday’s victory over the Lions, and was unable to return to the game. He has just one reception for 25 yards prior to exiting, but it did go for a touchdown to somewhat salvage his fantasy day (9.5 DKFP). The fallout here is that Thielen’s very unlikely to play in Week 8, with the Vikings hosting the Redskins on TNF.
Thielen was unable to practice on Tuesday, and doesn’t have much time to prepare for a game that the Vikings are already 16-point favorites in. Assuming he misses Week 8, we can upgrade Stefon Diggs’ fantasy value, while Olabisi Johnson makes for the deeper value play. Johnson brought in 4-of-8 targets for 40 yards and a touchdown (14 DKFP) with Thielen out, and is just $3,000 this week on the 15-game slate that starts on Thursday on DK. Thielen could potentially return in Week 9 to face the Chiefs.
What is Adam Thielen’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 7?
After Thielen went off for a 6-130-2 line in Week 5, it was clearly Stefon Diggs’ day against the Eagles in Week 6. Diggs posted a monster 7-167-3 line, but Thielen was still able to produce a solid fantasy day — he caught 6-of-8 targets for 57 yards and a touchdown vs. PHI (17.7 DKFP).
The huge day for Diggs should actually be encouraging for both he and Thielen’s value moving forward. The Vikings have been extremely reliant on the run so far in 2019, so maybe these big games by the WRs will lead to airing it out more in upcoming games. Thielen’s matchup in Week 7 gets more difficult, traveling to Detroit, which ranks eighth in DKFP allowed to WR. With his salary up $200 to $6,900, it’s not a great week to target Thielen on DraftKings, but you’re obviously leaving him in your season-long lineups.
What is Adam Thielen’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 6?
Thielen followed up his biggest dud of the season (two catches for six yards in Chicago) with his signature game of the season in Week 5 against the Giants — a 7-130-2 line on eight targets, good for 35 DKFP. It was good to see Thielen co-exist with Dalvin Cook, who’s the centerpiece of Minnesota’s offense, and gained over 200 yards on 27 touches.
Thielen could be in position to continue his success, as the Eagles have been very stout against the run so far this season, yet have allowed the most DKFP per game to the WR position. If the Vikings play the matchups here, Thielen’s in another strong spot, while his salary remains unchanged on DK ($6,700). He’s a viable DFS option, and a must-start in all season-long formats.
What is Adam Thielen’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 5?
Reality finally set in for Thielen in Week 4. While he produced at least 12.5 DKFP in each of the first three games of the season, he was yet to go off, and was making the most of very limited targets. Thielen saw another six targets in Chicago on Sunday, which was right around his season average, but caught just two of them for six yards — 2.6 DKFP. It was the bust that’d we’d been waiting for from the WR, as the Vikings have been focused on establishing the run.
Kirk Cousins and the passing game have been a huge disappointment thus far, but this is a potential spot for the WRs to breakout. The Giants rank 30th in DKFP allowed to WR, even after completely shutting down Washington in Week 4. The other side of the field was working for Cousins against the Bears, as Stefon Diggs caught all seven of his targets for 108 yards. I’d need to see Thielen priced cheaper than $6,700 in Week 5 to roster him, as an increase in price isn’t justified based on his performance, regardless of matchup. However, rumors are brewing about Diggs being traded, which would be a nice boost for Thielen’s value.
What is Adam Thielen’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 4?
Although Thielen hasn’t been a complete bust in any week since the start of the season, there are reasons to be concerned about his fantasy outlook through three weeks. The Vikings are just so committed to the run, that it looks like the breakout seasons we saw from Thielen and Stefon Diggs last year are going to be tough to match.
On the plus side, Minnesota actually utilized Thielen in the run game on the goal line on Sunday against Oakland, as he ran in a one-yard touchdown. He also caught a touchdown, which brought him to a season-high 20.6 DKFP.
The downside is just how few targets Thielen’s getting compared to last season. Thielen’s great when he gets the ball, turning 11 receptions into 173 yards and two receiving touchdowns, but he’s been targeted just 16 total times this season. Through three games in 2018, Thielen had been targeted a total of 44 times, and topped 100 yards in each game.
Thielen is still a worthwhile play in season long leagues, but at $6,600 against the Bears, he makes for a dicey Week 4 play on DraftKings. The Vikings’ game plan in 2019 is the only thing slowing his production.
What is Adam Thielen’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 3?
Thielen put together another solid fantasy outing in Week 2, snagging 5-of-8 targets for 75 yards, good for 12.5 DKFP. While he hasn’t come out with a dud yet, it’s clear that the game plan to run the ball more is going to limit Thielen’s ceiling in 2019. He’s been targeted just 11 times through two games, but has made the most of them with 118 yards and a touchdown.
While Thielen’s averaging 13 DKFP, this Minnesota offense looks like it won’t be WR-friendly the majority of the weeks. That has Thielen’s salary down $400 from last week, checking in at a season-low $6,700. The matchup against Oakland is intriguing, as the Raiders have been decent defending the run. If the Vikings do try to air it out more in this one, we could see Thielen’s best performance of the season. However, I need to see the Vikings commit more to passing the ball before trusting him at this price.
What is Adam Thielen’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 2?
Thielen put together a decent fantasy day in Week 1 on DK, recording three receptions for 43 yards and a touchdown. The 13.3 DKFP were good enough for him not to bust, but when you look at the offensive breakdown for Minnesota, there’s some serious cause for concern. Thielen saw just three targets, which was actually a 30% target share given Kirk Cousins only attempted 10 passes.
While part of the Vikings’ offensive imbalance was due to getting out to a huge lead, they’ve also said all season that they want to commit to the run on offense. In Week 1, that meant 21 carries for Dalvin Cook, who rushed for over 100 yards and a pair of touchdowns, not to mention soaking up a pair of the targets from Cousins. Thielen’s salary has surprisingly risen to $7,100, making him a pretty risky play against a Green Bay defense that looked fantastic in its season debut. It’s not a knock on Thielen as a player, but if the emphasis is going to be this heavy on the run, there’s just no way Thielen can be as productive with so few targets.
Adam Thielen 2019 fantasy football preview
Thielen continued to break out in 2018, setting career-highs across the board. After slowly growing his role each season, the Minnesota Vikings WR caught 113-of-153 targets for 1,373 yards and nine touchdowns.
Let’s get the limited downside out of the way first, because some of it even can be spun into upside for Thielen. Minnesota has been adamant it will establish the run this season, leaning on Dalvin Cook and the ground game. While I’m very high on Cook in 2019 — he was tremendous after finding his health last season — Thielen proved he can carry value in the same offense.
Then there’s the constant knocks we’ve had on Kirk Cousins. While he might not be the best big-game QB, he’s a solid fantasy option that’s proven the ability to make his pass-catchers valuable. Even if we project some regression for Thielen in 2019, he still is being undervalued on the WR market. It’s worth noting Thielen’s played in all 16 games for the first five seasons of his career, although he’s had a significant role in only the past three years.
What is Adam Thielen’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 1?
While Thielen’s priced as the eighth-most expensive WR on Week 1’s main slate, Julio Jones and Tyreek Hill are the only ones who averaged more fantasy points per game on DK last season. At $6,800 at home against the Falcons, his Week 1 value on DK is an even better bargain than his season-long outlook.
Atlanta ranked 30th in DK points allowed to the WR position in 2018 and also will have to contain Stefan Diggs on the opposite side of the field. This should open up tremendous spots for both receivers, but Thielen was the more consistent option in 2018. Thielen also came out of the gates scorching last season, scoring 19 or more DK points in every outing until Week 9.
