Kyle Allen remains the Panthers starting quarterback. The Panthers have won all three of his starts, but he has struggled a bit since his four-touchdown debut in Week 3. In Week 4, Allen threw for 232 yards and no touchdowns but also had three lost fumbles. In Week 5, he threw for 181 yards and one touchdown. He was sacked three times and fumbled once, although it was not lost to the Jaguars.

Allen has been a part of two straight Panthers wins since replacing Newton. He threw for 261 yards and four touchdowns in Week 3, and had 232 yards and no touchdowns in Week 4. The concern for Allen in Week 4 was that he lost three fumbles. He will need to improve on ball control against a stout Jaguars defense that will bring the heat. Allen’s price dropped $300 to $7,300 due to the fumbles.

It was not a pretty Week 2 for Cam Newton in a 20-14 Thursday Night Football loss to the Bucs. He threw for 333 passing yards, and while he played the whole game, but did not look like a guy who is 100 percent healthy. Later, we learned he had aggravated his preseason foot injury and was in a walking boot.
Newton is not expected to play vs. the Cardinals in Week 3, with Kyle Allen likely to get the start. Newton’s price dropped $500 to $6,000, but you will not be playing him this week, and potentially for a little bit longer.
What is Cam Newton’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 2?
It wasn’t a great Week 1 for Cam as he struggled to find his footing against the Rams. He ended up scoring on 7.4 points on DraftKings, throwing for 239 yards, getting picked off once and rushing for negative two yards. Like I said, not a great week.
Here’s to hoping he can get back on track this week against the Buccaneers (though Tampa Bay looked pretty good against Jimmy Garoppolo in Week 1). Cam heads into Week 2 as the seventh most expensive quarterback, with a DraftKings’ salary of $6,300. I love me some Cam, but with Dak Prescott the same price facing a much easier defense, I’ll pass on him this week.
Can Newton 2019 fantasy football preview
So much as been made about Cam Newton’s shoulder during the end of last season and this offseason, I feel as though people have overlooked the fact that Cam was having himself a season before he got hurt. From Week 1 to Week 12, Newton was on pace for almost 4,000 passing yards and 32 passing touchdowns, numbers he hasn’t come close to since his MVP season. Unfortunately his shoulder hampered him in Weeks 13 and 14, ultimately leading to him sitting out the rest of the season. Newton still finished the year with 3,395 passing yards, 24 touchdowns and 13 interceptions, 488 rushing yards, and four rushing touchdowns.
But now it’s a new season of football and one in which Newton is healthy and ready to go. In fact, his shoulder injury might actually have forced Cam to change his throwing motion for the better. Dare we dream the days of wild overthrows are now a thing of the past? Surrounded by weapons like Christian McCaffrey, D.J. Moore and Curtis Samuel, Newton is all set to return to the NFL stage in a big way.
What is Cam Newton’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 1?
Currently, Newton has a Week 1 salary of $6,500 on DraftKings. This puts him as the third most expensive signal caller, behind Patrick Mahomes and Jameis Winston of all people. The Panthers are set to open the season hosting the Los Angeles Rams, who were average against quarterbacks last year, surrendering the 13th most fantasy points to QBs. It seems like a hefty price tag for a matchup that isn’t extremely favorable.
