Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones has been competing for work with Jamaal Williams the past three seasons, and slowly worked his way into the driver’s seat. He entered 2019 with growing expectations, and is really starting to shine in his own right.
Jones edged out Williams in carries in 2018, but was also significantly more productive at 5.5 yards per carry to Williams’ 3.8. Williams got hurt in training camp, and that opened the door for Jones to take control of the job.
The season opened with Jones leading the backfield in a season-opening Thursday Showdown matchup. He only had 39 rushing yards for his $13,000 Showdown salary, and so in Week 2, his first regular salary was a fairly reasonable $5,400. It was up and down for a few weeks, but after Williams suffered a concussion, Jones broke out in a big way. Jones slowed down in Week 9, finishing with 3.9 DKFP. He enters Week 10 looking to bounce back against a shaky Panthers run defense.
Williams remains a competitor, but for fantasy football and DFS purposes, Jones is the lead dog.
