Top 25 tight ends in our Week 2 fantasy rankings

What a weekend for tight ends to start the season. The top of the rankings remain the same, but some old and new names are making noise. Here are our Week 2 fantasy football rankings for tight ends.

Editor’s update: The Los Angeles Chargers announced on Wednesday that tight end Hunter Henry suffered a tibia plateau fracture to his left knee during last week’s game against the Indianapolis Colts. There is no timeline for his return, but he will not be playing this weekend against the Detroit Lions. Virgil Green replaces him, but is not a starting option for the time being.

With Rob Gronkowski gone the race to claim the crown for best fantasy tight end started off hot in Week 1. Evan Engram led the way at the position while the big 3 of Travis Kelce, Zach Ertz and George Kittle were all kept out of the end zone. We can’t say the same for rookie T.J. Hockenson or veteran sweet potato lover, Veron Davis. Both finished in the top 5 in the opening round of games.

Davis started the game for Washington with Jordan Reed sidelined due to a concussion suffered in the preseason. Trey Burton also missed his chance at a Week 1 debut with a groin injury, but could play against Denver on Sunday. Greg Olsen also finds himself on the injury report so keep a close eye on his progress heading into Carolina’s Thursday Night game against Tampa Bay.

Week 2 brings a few good opportunities for those with slow or no Week 1 games. If Trey Burton suits up, he has a good matchup against the Denver Broncos. Cameron Brate had 2 touchdowns taken off the board due to penalties in Week 1. He could get the same red zone usage Thursday night against Carolina.
