Start or sit Peyton Barber in Week 2 TNF?

Barber is still the Bucs’ starting running back, but he’s not getting the kind of workload you’d expect for it.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Peyton Barber had a grand total of 33 rushing yards in last week’s loss to the San Francisco 49ers. He also caught two passes for another 12 yards. But the most important number most fantasy owners are likely paying attention to from that game is Barber’s eight carries compared to 12 for Ronald Jones.

Jones also had 75 yards on his 13 attempts, leaving many to wonder if Barber still had a starting job. The answer, according to head coach Bruce Arians, is yes. Barber is still, ostensibly, the team’s starting running back.

But a depth chart is just a piece of paper. Jones looks like the better player in the backfield right now. Further clouding the picture of Barber’s place in the scheme is that Dare Ogunbowale saw more targets in the passing game.

Peyton Barber may still have the top line on the depth chart, but he’s not getting the workload you’d expect. That’s a big red flag.

Fantasy Impact: Uncertainty is a fantasy owner’s worst enemy. Barber’s status with the Bucs appears to be tenuous at best. Plus, with a tough matchup on the road against the Panthers this week, it’s hard to imagine them running the ball much anyway.

Recommendation: Sit
