NFL Week 2: Chargers vs. Lions Odds, Lines, Spread, Prop Bets
Detroit played in a game that started out slow, but turned into one of the most exciting bouts of the weekend in Week 1. The Lions were leading 17-6 after three quarters, but gave up their lead due to a tired defense and one very bad coaching mistake. The contest resulted in a tie. Still, Detroit gained 477 yards of total offense, including 131 receiving yards from rookie tight end T.J. Hockenson. The Lions could end up a little more feisty than they were given credit for prior to the season.
The Chargers, meanwhile, gained 435 yards of offense in Week 1, not missing a beat without star(?) running back Melvin Gordon. With that said, their defense seemed to be a little exposed without star safety Derwin James. Their contest against Jacoby Brissett and the Colts also required overtime to settle things, but the Chargers were able to secure a victory.
Something to watch in this matchup is the Detroit run game versus L.A.’s run defense. The Chargers allowed Indy to average 6.2 yards per carry on the ground, while rushing for over 200 yards. The Lions ran the ball 27 times on first and second down against the Cardinals, not including overtime, with just 22 pass attempts. They want to establish the ground game if at all possible.
