Spread picks for every NFL game in Week 2

I’m going with nine underdogs to kick off the season. I’ve been up and down over the years with my picks against the spread, so we’ll see what Week 1 brings.

Welcome back for Week 2 of the 2019 NFL season! We got off to a fun start, capped by a wild Texans-Saints game and an unexpected Raiders win over the Broncos. The Browns were who we thought they used to be, getting pummeled by the Tennessee Titans. The Dolphins were trashed by the Ravens, and the Patriots showed why they’re early favorites, destroying the Steelers.

We’re headed into a second weekend of sports betting, and I’m hoping to build off a positive Week 1. I made seven total bets, and went 5-2. My five wins were all spread and moneyline bets, while my two losses were on point totals. Maybe I should take a hint?

Each week I’ll be putting together a complete list of picks against the spread for the full NFL slate. I went 9-7 last week, with DraftKings Sportsbook odds costing me a push in the Panthers-Rams game. Maybe I’ll find a lucky line or two this week.

I got off to a shaky start with my Thursday Night Football pick. I was convinced Jameis Winston would struggle once again against a decent Carolina Panthers defense. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback wasn’t great, but he did enough and the Bucs defense got a game-winning goal line stop to get the win.

Week 2 brings with it an interesting stat. Over the past six years, teams that lose in Week 1 on the road cover at a rate of 65 percent when they are home in Week 2. This week, that applies to the Giants, Steelers, Washington, Bengals, Texans, Broncos, and Falcons. The Lions tied the Cardinals, so I’m not exactly sure how best to qualify that. At 65 percent, 4.55 of that list of teams would cover the spread this week. Let’s keep an eye on that to see if the trend holds. I’m not picking all those teams, but I’m picking quite a few of them.

Here’s my full list of picks for Week 2. All odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook.
