The key to taking down any DFS contest is finding the right value plays to pepper your lineup. Value plays, quite simply, are those who dramatically exceed their value. In NFL DFS, we are always looking for the player who will triple or quadruple their salaries. For example, a player worth $6,000 who scores 24 points has quadrupled, or 4Xed, their salary. Those are the guys we want throughout the lineup. Here are our best quarterback plays for Week 3.
TOP SHELF
Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys vs Miami Dolphins, $6,500: There is certainly nothing wrong with grabbing a piece of the QB showdown of the season in Kansas City this week, but the discount you get on Dak is fairly substantial and the matchup is quite simply the best on the board. We have now seen in two games that even when way ahead against bad teams, this is Dak’s show first and foremost and he should continue his rampage against the defenseless Dolphins.
Russell Wilson, Seattle Seahawks vs. New Orleans Saints, $6,300: Wilson has been impressive in both his games thus far, throwing five touchdowns without an interception, and he now gets a Saints team in a bit of disarray with the Drew Brees news. The Texans and Rams have not had any difficulty throwing on the Saints and with Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf healthy, there’s no reason to think the Seahawks won’t light them up, either.
MID-RANGE MEN
Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills vs. Cincinnati Bengals, $5,900: Allen might be the most entertaining quarterback in fantasy, and that’s saying something with Mahomes and Jackson out there. In two games thus far, Allen has a passing and rushing touchdown in each game and he is not afraid to chuck the ball all over the field. The Bengals have been carved up in their two games and Allen gets his first shot at home this season. His price is starting to come up, but at sub-$6K, he’s still a nice value.
Jameis Winston, Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. New York Giants, $5,400: If Winston can’t produce a big game here at home against Little Blue, there’s not much hope for him. Dak Prescott had a monster game in Week 1 and the aforementioned Allen put up a nice 22.22 on Sunday. Winston showed a sign of life against the Panthers in Week 2 and now gets 10 days to prepare for a terrible Giants team. Chris Godwin is about a must-play as you’ll ever see.
BARGAIN BOOM
Kirk Cousins, Minnesota Vikings vs. Oakland Raiders, $5,100: The Raiders had a bit of a letdown off their emotional Monday night win in Week 1, and Patrick Mahomes exploited it at high velocity in the second quarter Sunday. Now the Raiders go on the road for the first time this season and while Cousins is no Mahomes, it’s a true let-down spot for Oakland and Stefon Diggs is only getting healthier. At that salary, Cousins should be able to 4X here.
Mason Rudolph, Pittsburgh Steelers at San Francisco 49ers, $4,800: Will DFS players run away from this play, leaving Rudolph at low ownership? Let’s hope so, because he didn’t look half-bad against the Seahawks in emergency duty and now gets a full week to prepare. Rudolph showed great rapport with Juju Smith-Schuster and Vance McDonald and his lone interception was all Donte Moncrief’s fault. Shhhhh.
