What to do with Larry Fitzgerald in Week 3 fantasy football

The future Hall of Famer isn’t going away anytime soon, particularly entering a strong matchup vs. the Panthers. We look at whether you should play or fade Fitzgerald in Week 3.

At this point Larry Fitzgerald owes Kliff Kingsbury his life. Well, maybe that’s an exaggeration. How about a night out on the town in Scottsdale? Sure. Kingsbury’s Air Raid offense has given Larry Fitz new life, with the 36-year-old looking like he’s in his prime through two games in 2019. The former Pitt Panther ranks eighth in receiving yards (217) and third in targets (24) coming off back-to-back 100-plus yard efforts to start the season. We all knew Kingsbury’s plan was to throw the ball a ton and it has played in Fitzgerald’s favor, particularly in fantasy football, with the 36-year-old averaging 23.4 fantasy points per game in PPR formats.

Fantasy Impact: The Cardinals spread the ball around more than anyone, but that shouldn’t discourage you from playing Fitzgerald this week vs. Carolina. He has a somewhat tough matchup against CB James Bradberry, but if Kingsbury can move Fitz around (into the slot), the rest of the Panthers’ corners are exploitable. The line on Arizona’s implied point total has gone up, which suggests the public believes the Cards will overachieve on offense. Plus, Fitzgerald will be in on almost all of the offensive snaps, most of which will result in passing plays. At this point the veteran should be penciled in as a strong WR2 with WR1 upside.
