This feels like a new era for the Steelers. Le’Veon Bell is with the Jets, Antonio Brown is with the Patriots, and now Ben Roethlisberger is out for the season with an elbow injury. For years, the three B’s were a staple of fantasy football and now it seems that Pittsburgh is getting close to a rebuild. For the time being, the franchise is in the hands of second year quarterback Mason Rudolph.
Rudolph could be a competent quarterback, although I think we see a different strategy from the Steelers than we have seen in recent seasons. As opposed the high scoring games from previous years, I think we are going to see a more defensive oriented game plan. Slow the game down on offense by running the football and try to win games with a tougher defense. Pittsburgh traded for Minkah Fitzpatrick during the week to sure up their passing defense.

For the 49ers, they have gotten off to a strong start. They won their first two games, each by at least two touchdown and both were road games. The competition (Bengals and Buccaneers) wasn’t particularly stiff, but they couldn’t have looked much better. Most importantly, Jimmy Garoppolo looks healthy after missing most of last season with a knee injury. He has a 104.8 passer rating and is averaging 8.9 yards per pass attempt. San Francisco is the third ranked team in the league by DVOA and it will be interesting to see if it can keep up this same level of play against tougher teams.
