Best and Worst DFS running back plays for Week 4

The Ravens vs Browns matchup has two star running backs, but you should only start one of them while avoiding the other.

If you’re a DFS player, you know that a successful lineup has to have a solid combination of big-name star power players that are known commodities with a few high-upside players that provide a little more bang for your buck.

If you pay up for a big name in your daily fantasy lineup, you definitely cannot afford for that player to put up a dud of a game in your lineup.

So here are the running backs that will likely provide some of the best and worst value for Week 4. (Values from DraftKings).

BEST: Austin Ekeler (LAC) - $8,000

The Miami Dolphins do not seem like they even want to win in 2019. While there were initially questions about which running back would take up the lead role during the holdout of Melvin Gordon, it is unquestionably Austin Ekeler’s role for the foreseeable future. Look for Ekeler to not only help the Chargers build a lead, but also to be the player tabbed with helping keep it late and run out the clock.

WORST: Nick Chubb (CLE) - $6,400

The Cleveland Browns might have been crowned Super Bowl champions just a tad too early. The offense has sputtered in 2019, and against a high-powered Baltimore Ravens team, it’s completely possible - if not likely - the Browns are forced to abandon the run quickly to stay in the game. Despite Chubb’s ability to produce in the passing game, avoid him at even at his $6,400 price tag.

BEST: Mark Ingram (BAL) - $6,600

Sticking with that game, it’s surprising Mark Ingram comes so cheaply, especially considering he’s coming off the back of a two-touchdown performance in Week 3. Much like Ekeler against the Dolphins, if the Ravens are able to build a lead early, it will the legs of Mark Ingram that seal the victory for Baltimore.

WORST: Marlon Mack (IND) - $6,100

The Indianapolis Colts don’t have a great matchup in Week 4, hosting the Oakland Raiders, who are actually ranked seventh against opposing running backs in 2019. Add in the fact that Mack is still ceding touches to Nyheim Hines in the passing game, and Mack is likely someone you want to avoid this week in your daily lineup, in spite of the affordable price tag.
