What to do with Marquez Valdes-Scantling in Week 4 fantasy football

The Packers deep threat had a big week last Sunday. Is it enough to get him in your lineup this Thursday?

The first thing you have to understand about the Green Bay Packers in 2019 is that they are not the team you’re used to, the one that put all the weight on Aaron Rodgers’ shoulders and had him spread the ball around at will. That makes it tough to judge the fantasy value for a wide receiver like Marquez Valdes-Scantling.

The thing to know about the second-year receiver is that he’s a deep threat, a speedy outside receiver who is there to get behind a defense. And while Rodgers may not have to do all the heavy lifting anymore, he can still throw the ball like so few other quarterbacks.

A player like that can also be a feast or famine for your lineup. But he has at least cemented a spot as the second receiver. He only trails Devante Adams by two catches for the team lead, and both players have 21 targets.

Fantasy impact: You could sit him, gambling that this is one of those weeks where he and Rodgers can’t connect. Or, you could play him betting that this is one of those weeks where he goes off. As long as he stays healthy, he’s bound to have some of those games that can make your entire week in fantasy. MVS and Rodgers showed what they can do last week. It’d be a shame to leave him on your bench and have him go off.
