How to handle Damien Williams injury in Week 4 fantasy football

The Chiefs running back is out again this week. What are the fantasy implications for the Chiefs backfield?

The Kansas City Chiefs will be without the services of running back Damien Williams for the second week in a row. He’s still dealing with a knee injury suffered in the second game of the season.

With a plethora of options in the Kansas City backfield, Williams is at risk of losing his role in the game plan going forward. LeSean McCoy, Darrel Williams and Darwin Thompson will squeeze him out. Before going down in Week 2, Damien Williams had played himself into a nice little role in the passing game, leading all running backs with 11 targets and nine receptions.

But in last week’s win over the Ravens, it was Darrel Williams getting the edge in all touches among his peers in the backfield with nine carries for 62 yards and a five catches on five targets. He led the team in yards from scrimmage. That fact makes it seem like Darrel Williams could be in line for even more work with the explosive Chiefs offense.

Fantasy impact: Obviously Damien Williams does not merit any fantasy attention this week since he’s not playing. The question now is what his prospects look like going forward. McCoy is always going to have a decent floor for touches, as long as he’s healthy. But it’s Darrel Williams who you should be watching.
