Point spread, total, moneyline and more for Colts-Chargers in Week 1

The Colts open the 2019 season traveling to face the Chargers not too long after Andrew Luck’s shocking retirement. What does it mean for Sunday? We break down all the odds, including the point spread, the moneyline, and some interesting player prop bets.

And now for a story about missing stars: The Indianapolis Colts and the Los Angeles Chargers. I’m going to spoil the ending for you. The Chargers win in the end.

We all know the narrative here. Andrew Luck retired from football just before the regular season, while the Chargers’ top running back, Melvin Gordon, will be sitting out due to contract issues that may take a while to sort out. The Colts are going to suffer far worse than the Chargers, though, as they’ll go with QB Jacoby Brissett (DFS salary $4,400) who went 4-11 as the Indy starter back in 2017. Meanwhile, last season the Chargers went 4-0 without Gordon, heavily leaning on Austin Ekeler ($5,500) and Justin Jackson ($4,000,) which they’ll have the luxury of doing so again this season. Don’t forget, Philip Rivers ($5,900) still has Keenan Allen ($7,300 and fifth-most expensive WR on DraftKings) as his top receiver. After two seasons in a row of at least 97 receptions, 1,196 yards and six touchdowns, they’re slated to be one of the better QB-WR duos in the league.

I don’t see any way the Colts can pull of a road victory, especially against a top-10 defense. The Chargers should win comfortably, but I’m predicting a garbage time rushing TD from Marlon Mack ($5,600) to help the Colts cover the +6.5 point spread.
