These two teams are going in total opposite directions. Miami appears to be in the middle of a full re-boot. They let a number of talented players walk in the off-season, bringing in Josh Rosen for a second-rounder, and hired a new head coach in Brian Flores. There is almost no reason to expect them to compete this year, and they could very well be “tanking for Tua.” In fact, Miami has been looking to deal numerous expected contributors all summer. With that said, the team will start Ryan Fitzpatrick, not Rosen, in Week 1, meaning this could be a rather fun offensive team to follow this season. Fitzpatrick played half of the season for a Bucs offense that was second in yards per pass attempt.
The Ravens are in position to improve by leaps and bounds in 2019. They went 6-1 with Lamar Jackson as the starter to close the regular season, taking the league by storm with their run-heavy attack centered around the young QB. Baltimore averaged 0.27 more yards per pass attempt and 1.71 more yards per rush with Jackson on the field in 2018. The Ravens were also a top three defense by Football Outsiders DVOA, and have since added Earl Thomas, one of the most impactful defensive players in the NFL. Seattle allowed 1.12 less yards per pass attempt with Thomas on the field in 2018.
