Editor’s update: The Ravens expect to have wide receiver Marquise Brown active when they face the Dolphins on Sunday. The team’s first round pick is listed as questionable with a foot injury, but it appears he should be all systems go for Week 1.
Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Marquise Brown is officially listed as questionable with a foot injury heading into the season opener against the Miami Dolphins. He missed Friday’s practice, but he was on the field with the team on Thursday. However, head coach John Harbaugh confirmed on Friday that the rookie would indeed play this week.
That’s great news for the Ravens, who are counting on the No. 25 overall pick in this year’s draft to give their offense a shot of deep speed.
More likely than not, the Ravens were just giving him a day off before the season starts. Recall that Brown spent most of the offseason recovering from Lisfranc surgery. He missed much of training camp and didn’t see action in the preseason until the third week.
It’s hard to predict just what kind of numbers Brown will put up this season. Rookie receivers don’t typically post the kind of numbers that justify keeping them in a fantasy lineup week in and week out through the season. Plus, we still don’t have a great idea of just what kind of passer second-year quarterback Lamar Jackson is going to be.
Fantasy impact: At least we know that Brown is going to play this week, but he’s a risky player to start just because of the unknowns right now. With his speed, he’s the kind of player who can turn a short catch into a big play. He’s not a bad flyer with a DK salary of just $3,800 this week.
