It’s been an inconsistent season for Tennessee Titans tight end Jonnu Smith, but he stepped up big time in the first quarter of the Divisional round against the Baltimore Ravens. Ryan Tannehill looked deep for Smith and found him in the back corner of the end zone. Smith went up and hauled in the ball with one hand. More importantly, he secured it as he came down on his backside and got credit for the touchdown.
Smith finished the regular season with 35 receptions for 439 yards and three touchdowns. He had a mostly quiet season, but came into the playoffs on a bit of a roll. He scored a touchdown in three of the team’s final four regular season games. He was held to one reception for nine yards in the Titans’ Wild Card round win over the Patriots.
The Titans took a 7-0 lead on the touchdown catch, which came after a Mark Andrews drop resulted in a Lamar Jackson interception. Tennessee was a ten-point underdog coming into this game, so turning the interception into a touchdown was critical.
