UPDATE: Jan. 15, 8:57 p.m. — Well this came out fast. Gafford is expected to miss 2-4 weeks after dislocating his right thumb, The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported shortly after the Bulls ruled Gafford out.

So we know that Gafford is out long-term, so now may be a good time to scoop up Luke Kornet off the waiver wire in your season-long fantasy basketball league. Last we saw, Kornet was up to 14 minutes against the Wiz. Thad Young is another waiver target and I wouldn’t be surprised if the Bulls explore outside options to add frontcourt depth.
Chicago Bulls F/C Daniel Gafford left Wednesday night’s game vs. the Washington Wizards early due to a thumb injury.
UPDATE on Daniel Gafford: Right Thumb - will not return.

Gafford only played one minute before leaving with the injury. He scored two points with one board prior to leaving. This is the second injury recently for the Bulls frontcourt, which is without Wendell Carter Jr. (ankle sprain). As a result, Luke Kornet is getting increased run against the Wizards. We’re only about four minutes into the second quarter, but Kornet already has five points in 10 minutes. Thaddeus Young should also get additional minutes at PF and Lauri Markkanen will have to play more center.
