The Kansas City Chiefs released their final injury report for the AFC Championship Game, and defensive tackle Chris Jones is officially listed as questionable. He did not participate in practice on Wednesday or Thursday due to a calf injury, but was able to get in a limited session on Friday.
Jones sat out last week’s game after injuring his calf in practice. He was limited on Thursday and then a DNP on Friday before being inactive on Sunday. Mike Pennel started in his place.
The Chiefs defense was slow out of the gate last week against Houston, but picked up steam in the second quarter and helped turned the game into a route. This week offers a slightly different challenger with Derrick Henry on an absurd tear of late.
Odds are decent the Chiefs look to load up the box and force Ryan Tannehill to beat them. A loaded box hasn’t stopped Henry lately, and no Jones doesn’t help matters for Kansas City. Henry rushes the majority of the time to the right side, but per Pro Football Focus, 143 of his 367 rushing attempts were up the middle. If Jones sits, Pennel is going to face arguably the biggest test in the veteran’s career considering the stakes of this game.
