Chiefs TE Travis Kelce ($7,100) and 49ers TE George Kittle ($5,800) will likely be heavily owned in DraftKings contests this weekend, so fantasy owners in large-scale tournaments on DraftKings may want to pivot to cheaper tight ends.
Packers TE Jimmy Graham ($3,700) and Titans TE Jonnu Smith ($3,400) are the two next top options. By average DraftKings fantasy points (DKFP) per game, both Graham and Smith were identical fantasy producers this season, each averaging 6.4 DKFP per game. Both saw about the same target share inside the red zone, with each getting about 13% of their team’s red zone targets. With their production so closely related, choosing between the two will come down to the matchup this week.
Fantasy football analysis: Packers TE Jimmy Graham vs. Titans TE Jonnu Smith
The Titans-Chiefs game is expected to be higher scoring than Packers-49ers, as DraftKings Sportsbook has given Titans-Chiefs a total points of 52.5, compared to 46.5 for Packers-49ers. With the Chiefs’ offense looking unstoppable last week, there’s a good chance that Kansas City could build a significant lead in this game, which could force the Titans into a pass-heavy game-script. Titans QB Ryan Tannehill ($5,500) showcased elite passing ability with the Titans during the regular season, leading the NFL in yards gained per pass attempt (9.6) and passer rating (117.5), so Tennessee has a capacity to move the ball through the air if they choose to adjust their gameplan away from feeding RB Derrick Henry ($8,700) on the ground. If Tennessee is forced into heavy passing volume, Smith could be an appealing fantasy play at a cheap price tag, and he carries some touchdown upside given he ranked second on the Titans in red zone target percentage.
