The Green Bay Packers and San Francisco 49ers will be facing off in the NFC title game on Sunday in hopes of advancing to the Super Bowl. Aaron Rodgers will return to his home state of California to take on one of the hottest teams in football, and we broke down what some of the best plays for Sunday’s DraftKings Showdown might be.
Captain Obvious
Aaron Rodgers, QB, Packers ($15,000)
Rodgers will be given more opportunities than any other player in this game to make plays. The 49ers bottled up Dalvin Cook in the Divisional Round, so things don’t look too good for Aaron Jones — even if he did score two touchdowns against the Seattle Seahawks. San Francisco’s fearsome front line will likely force Rodgers to sling the ball around plenty.
Captain Courageous
Davante Adams, WR, Packers ($17,100)
Adams exploded for 39 DKFP in the Divisional Round when he hauled in eight receptions for 160 yards and two scores against Seattle. He is Rodgers’ most lethal weapon and hasn’t gotten less than 11 targets in four weeks. Allen Lazard’s questionable status for Sunday could make Adams a candidate for even more work. He’ll be up against some skilled defensive backs — Jimmie Ward and Richard Sherman — but has a higher ceiling than most skill players on both sides.
Flex Men
Deebo Samuel, WR, 49ers ($7,400)
Jimmy Garoppolo tallied his second lowest DKFP total (8.2) in the Divisional Round after throwing for 131 yards and a score against the Minnesota Vikings. He only completed 11 passes and no pass catcher notched more than three receptions. This doesn’t bode well for the receiving corps, but Samuel is different in that catching passes isn’t the only way he gets involved in the offense. The rookie is regularly a part of the running game and has gotten at least one carry in each of his last six appearances. His versatility makes him more of a threat than some of his fellow receivers.
Jimmy Graham, TE, Packers ($4,400)
Graham is the best pick you can make for less than $6,000. Rodgers showed that he trusts the tight end to come up with big plays down the stretch against Seattle, and Lazard’s injury could help Graham move into a more prominent role. If Green Bay’s rushing attack is less effective, Graham will likely see more balls thrown his way. This raises his upside, and his cheap price is a bonus.
