There are a few key names to look out for on the injury report. As per usual, we need an update on Karl-Anthony Towns. He’s been listed as questionable on the injury report for nearly a month and missed his eighth consecutive games last night. Other key players listed are D’Angelo Russell, Kristaps Porzingis, Andrew Wiggin, Marvin Bagley III and Blake Griffin.
Christian Wood, DET at LAC, ($5,100)
If Blake Griffin is unable to play for the Detroit Pistons, Wood stands to gain the most. Generally, his playing time has been hit or miss this season when Griffin is out because the team has been hesitant to play Wood and Andre Drummond together. Last game was a different story. The two big men shared the court for stretches of the game, leading to Wood playing a season-high 28 minutes. He should get significant run as long as Griffin is out.
Maxi Kleber, DAL vs. BKN, ($5,500)
In the Dallas Mavericks’ last game, Kristaps Porzingis was an extremely late scratch. He wasn’t ruled out until after the game locked due to a sore knee. He’s questionable to play in tonight’s game and Kleber moved into the starting lineup in place of KP on Tuesday. Kleber ended up having his best game of the season, scoring 37.5 DKFP and picked up his first double-double of the season.
Jalen Brunson, DAL vs. BKN, ($3,400)
Like Kleber, Brunson moved into the Mavs’ starting lineup last game. He started in place of Tim Hardaway Jr., who is dealing with a hamstring injury. Hardaway is listed out on the injury report in advance of tonight’s game, so Brunson figures to draw another start. He’s made six starts this season and averaged 26.42 DKFP in the role.
T.J. McConnell, IND vs. DEN ($4,300)
After getting hurt during an afternoon game on New Year’s Eve, Malcolm Brogdon will not play tonight. Aaron Holiday figures to start in his place, but I think McConnell could end up being a better play relative to price. Without Brogdon healthy, McConnell came off the bench and scored 31.5 DKFP on Tuesday. Despite playing limited minutes lately, he’s still put up at least 20 DKFP in seven of his last nine games. McConnell played a season-high 27 minutes on Tuesday and appears to be carving out a bigger role in the rotation.
