Top NBA DFS value plays on DraftKings for Jan. 22

We go over a few bargain options to save some salary in your lineup for Wednesday night’s main 12-game slate on DraftKings.

Happy Zion Williamson NBA Debut slate! We’re back with a full set of games, 12 to be exact, on DraftKings tonight. Williamson is set to play in his first game of the season for the Pels and costs $5K on DraftKings. Zion aside, we’ll go over some bargain options $5K or under to help you save salary when building lineups.

Myles Turner, C, IND @ PHX ($5,000)

Anyone else wondering what the hell Turner is doing this cheap? Yeah, me too. On Jan. 13, Turner was $7K in a matchup vs. the PHILADELPHIA 76ERS! That’s a good defensive team. The Suns aren’t a good defensive team. Turner is coming off 27 minutes, scoring 12 points with five rebounds and six steals. The steals are probably an anomaly, but I still don’t get how Turner doesn’t reach value. The Suns rank 26th in opponents blocks per game (5.6) and 17th in steals allowed per game (7.9).

Royce O’Neale, SF, UTA @ GSW ($4,000)

O’Neale lacks some upside, but at this price and the matchup I really like his odds of returning value. The Jazz should have an easy time with the Dubs, so O’Neale should see north of 30 minutes due to garbage time. He’s averaging 30.2 minutes per game in the past six anyway. The garbage time will allow O’Neale to pick up additional shots and counting stats. The Warriors are poor defensively overall, but I’ve preached how they can’t defend the perimeter. O’Neale is shooting 43.4% from distance, which is above average.

Landry Shamet, SG/SF, LAC @ ATL ($3,800)

There’s a chance the Clippers are without Paul George, Patrick Beverley and Kawhi Leonard tonight vs. the Hawks. Leonard hasn’t been ruled out, but normally rests on back-to-backs. So Shamet should start at shooting guard next to Lou Williams in a strong game environment. Shamet played 35 minutes last night vs. the Mavericks because Pat Bev got hurt and scored 18 points with three boards. Shamet should see that range of minutes — 30-35 — and Atlanta shouldn’t have a problem keeping this game competitive (even if Kawhi plays).

Zion Williamson, PF/C, NOP vs. SAS ($5,000)

I’m going to throw Zion out there just for the narrative. It’s his first NBA game and emotions will be high. I think the Pels said he’d be on a minutes restriction of 15-20, but I could see a little leeway in that department for the first game back, especially if Zion looks incredibly (which is very likely). He’s very cheap, and would only need to get to around 25 fantasy points for value, so double-digit points and 6-8 rebounds will get us there. The Spurs aren’t a great defensive team and play at a high pace, so that should work in favor of Zion’s explosiveness on the break.
