Top NBA DFS value plays on DraftKings for Jan. 23

With just three games on tonight’s NBA slate, where can we turn for value?

There are only three games tonight, but this doesn’t mean there won’t be value. One key player to keep an eye on is C.J. McCollum. The Blazers have listed him as questionable and the best potential for value tonight is if he’s ruled out.

Anfernee Simons, POR vs. DAL ($4,500)

In the games missed by McCollum, Portland has turned to Simons to move into the starting lineup. So far, he’s performed relatively well for fantasy and there is room for a bit more upside than he’s shown. Simons has made three starts this season, averaging a decent 22.67 DFKP, but he’s only shooting 32.5% from the field as a starter. He shown he can put up fantasy points even without his shot falling and making a couple extra shots per game would be great for his stat line.

Gary Trent Jr., POR vs. DAL ($3,400)

Even though he’s been coming off the bench, Trent is still soaking up minutes without McCollum active. In the last two games, he’s played 41 and 36 minutes. Trent has scored as many as 48.25 DKFP, so he arguably has more upside than Simons and has a cheaper salary. Between the two, Trent has been the lower-owned player the last couple of games despite putting up better fantasy scores.

Trevor Ariza, POR vs. DAL ($3,500)

Whether McCollum plays or not, Ariza is an interesting option tonight. Portland recently acquired him in a trade from the Sacramento Kings and this is going to be his first game with his new team. At the moment, it’s unclear what his role will be. Prior to leaving the Kings, Ariza flashed some upside. He scored over 30 DKFP in three of his final five games with Sacramento.

Jarrett Allen, BKN vs. LAL ($5,900)

Typically, the Nets don’t play Allen all that many minutes. This changes when Deandre Jordan is out and he’s questionable to play tonight. Jordan sat out the Nets’ last game, leading to Allen playing 31 minutes and scoring 36.75 DKFP. Even though a matchup against the Lakers isn’t ideal, Los Angeles is playing on the second leg of a back-to-back and could be dealing with some fatigue.
