49ers still getting the betting love through the bye week

We’ve got the latest update on betting splits as sports bettors figure out who they like in Super Bowl 54 between the 49ers and Chiefs.

We are nine days away from Super Bowl 54, and the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs are both wrapping up their practice weeks before traveling to Miami. The injury reports have not revealed anything surprising to date, and both teams are going to be in relatively decent shape when game day arrives.

Wagering on the Super Bowl is going to pick up steam once we get into game week, but there is plenty to consider as both teams prepare to depart for Miami. The Chiefs remain a 1.5-point favorites and -122 on the money line, but the betting public is split on their chances.

Earlier in the week, 78 percent of the point spread handle at DraftKings Sportsbook was on the 49ers and 67 percent of point spread tickets were on the Chiefs. Today, the total is at 73 percent of the handle and 68 percent of tickets bet. The betting public continues to back the 49ers on the money line. 59 percent of the handle and 57 percent of tickets bet are on the 49ers (+108).

DK, and virtually every other sportsbook, will be rooting for the under in a big way. As of Friday, 93 percent of handle and 85 percent of tickets bet on the point total are on the over. It opened at 53 and is now at 54. It could climb further, but for the time being it’s hanging at 54.
