The Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers square off in Super Bowl 54 on Sunday, February 2nd. We’ll be breaking down everything you need to know to prepare your daily fantasy football lineups for the big game. We’re starting with a player-by-player preview for the skill position players on the two teams.
It’s been quite the past 12 months for 49ers kicker Robbie Gould. A year ago when the 49ers season wrapped up, he was already looking at returning to Chicago and playing for a Bears team he had spent most of his career with. The 49ers placed their franchise tag on him however, and he was unable to depart. Gould and the 49ers had some difficult times in the spring, but eventually agreed to a long term contract that should keep him with the 49ers through the end of his career.

Season performance
Gould struggled early in the season. He missed at least one field goal in five of his first six games, including a one for four performance in Week 5 against the Browns. Gould then injured his quad in Week 9 and missed three straight weeks. He missed a field goal in his Week 13 return, but has not missed a field goal in the six games since then — connecting on 14 straight field goals.
Playoff performance
The 49ers rolled in their first two playoff games and Gould had flawless performances in both. He converted three extra points and two field goals against the Vikings in the Divisional round. He then converted four extra points and three field goals against the Packers in the NFC Championship Game.
Matchup
The Chiefs defense is shaky, but they have generally hunkered down as teams approach the red zone. They rank 17th in yards allowed, but rank fourth against kickers in DKFP allowed. They’ve given up the fourth fewest field goal attempts per game this season.
DFS pricing and analysis
You can save some money with Gould, but it’s a roll of the dice given the lack of field goal opportunities the Chiefs generally give up. You can’t use kickers in classic mode, but kickers are available as captain and flex options in Showdown. It’s too big a risk to captain him, even with the 1.5x multiplier. If you’re looking to save a few bucks and think the 49ers could hang around in a high-scoring game, Gould could be worth it.
