The Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers square off in Super Bowl 54 on Sunday, February 2nd. We’ll be breaking down everything you need to know to prepare your daily fantasy football lineups for the big game. We’re starting with a player-by-player preview for the skill position players on the two teams.
San Francisco’s wide receivers haven’t been very productive lately because of the ground game’s success, which has made life that much more difficult for Dante Pettis. In 2018, the 49ers second round pick caught 27 passes for 467 yards and five touchdowns in 12 games. He was projected as a fantasy football sleeper, but came up short in a big way.
DFS Super Bowl price
DraftKings Captain: $900
DraftKings Flex: $600
DFS opponent position ranking
Pettis was slow out of the gate, with one reception for seven yards in Week 1 and no targets in Week 2. He looked like he might finally be breaking out around the 49ers bye, with 14 targets over three games from Week 3 to Week 6, but things went south from there. After two straight weeks of no targets in Week 11 and Week 12, he has been inactive every week since.
He has yet to be active in the playoffs.
The Chiefs have had a solid year against wide receivers. They have held opposing receivers an average of 133 yards per game, and allowed just two individual receivers to top 100 yards in 18 games. Overall, they’ve allowed the second-fewest DraftKings points to the position and Football Outsiders ranked them sixth-best in DVOA against the pass. That being said, we saw DeShaun Watson and Ryan Tannehill impress early in both playoff games, even if they ended poorly for the Texans and Titans.
DFS pricing and analysis
Given that Pettis has not been active since Week 12, it’s hard to see that changing in the biggest game of the year. On the off chance he is active, even at a flex price of $600, it’s hard to expect him to be doing much of anything.
