The San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs are set to face off in Super Bowl 54 next week, and there will be plenty of available DraftKings Showdown contests available for the championship game. Some players’ DFS values might not indicate their full potential, so we picked out sleeper running backs you should consider picking up. Given Damien Williams workload to date, we are focused exclusively on the 49ers.
49ers RB Matt Breida, $3,200 flex
Breida is the only running back worth calling a sleeper in my opinion. He’s been overshadowed by Raheem Mostert and Tevin Coleman in the playoffs and hasn’t reached double digits in carries since Week 10. But how Coleman’s recovery from a dislocated shoulder progresses will determine whether Breida will kick off Super Bowl 54 as a RB2 or RB3. If Mostert is slowed down by Kansas City early, Breida could even become San Francisco’s feature back before the game is over. The 49ers’ recent lack of trust in the passing game means every running back will have a chance to get hot. This could make Breida’s $3,200 flex price a steal. He’s rushed for more than 100 yards in two contests this year and has breakaway speed comparable to Mostert’s.
49ers RB Jeff Wilson, $1,000 flex
This is entirely based on Coleman not playing this Sunday. If he does not play, Wilson will be active. He’d be behind Mostert and Breida, but would be a purely touchdown play. Wilson finished with four rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown in ten games. He became the 49ers short yardage back when one of the other backs was inactive. If he plays, he has touchdown value.
