It’s your last chance this season to configure the perfect DraftKings daily fantasy football line-up and one of these wide receivers may be the puzzle piece you need to win big. Which one will provide the greatest value in the most important game of the season? Both the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs have been on a roll in the playoffs, with the Chiefs averaging 43 points per game and the 49ers averaging 32 points points per game. Neither team is likely to let up on the gas this week and we could see a back and forth battle with lots of scoring on both sides. We break down the fantasy football implications for each of these receivers below.
Fantasy Football Analysis: San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders
Fan Duel Salary:$7500
DraftKings Flex Salary: $5200
DraftKings Captain Salary: $7800
Emmanuel Sanders has been in the midst of a fantasy drought lately, averaging only 3.6 points per games in his last three games played. His salary is reflective of this slump and he can be rostered for a significant discount this week.
Despite his disappointing performances recently, Sanders’ upside can’t be ignored as we remember his 37.1 point performance in Week 14 win against the Saints. Sanders stepped up for seven receptions, 157 yards, and one touchdown in that shootout, proving he can be clutch when it matters most.
In a game where they will likely need to score lots of points to keep up with the Chiefs, Sanders should have more opportunity than he saw in the first two playoff games in which Garoppolo only threw a combined 27 passes. He is averaging 10.8 fantasy points per game on the season, and at his current price point he comes at a good value with significant upside.
Fantasy Football Analysis: Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Sammy Watkins
Fan Duel Salary:$10,500
DraftKings Flex Salary: $7000
DraftKings Captain Salary:$10,500
Sammy Watkins shook off a string of poor outings at the end of the regular season to perform for his team in the playoffs. He started off slowly, amassing 11 points in the Divisional round, before exploding for seven receptions for 114 yards and one touchdown to total 27.4 points in the AFC Championship game. His salary has been raised accordingly each week.
While his performance in the conference championship was impressive, one can’t be blinded by recency bias. It is important to note that this was Watkins’ biggest performance since Week 1 when he scored 46.1 fantasy points against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Watkins has been wildly in consistent over the course of the season, with 8 games in which he scored less than 10 points. This speaks to Watkins’ boom/bust nature, and with an elevated price tag, the risk of a bust may dissuade you from adding him to your roster.
Start/Sit Advice:
Start Sanders over Watkins as he provides similar value at a discounted price.
