Former New York Giants quarterback and CBS Sports analyst Phil Simms has often been viewed as having a bit of a dry personality. He was on CBS’ No. 1 NFL team for years with Jim Nantz, but eventually was replaced by former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo. Simms now works in the CBS studio show.
Simms is in Miami for the Super Bowl and he has been making his way down Radio Row to talk about the big game and promote some products. He got a chance to sit down with The Ringer’s Kevin Clark, and it was an unexpected bit of entertainment. Simms was promoting a tea product (I think on purpose) and he spent much of the six minutes roasting Clark and the producer behind the camera.
It’s a bit of levity we haven’t been able to see with Simms. There is a common agreement among people discussing the video that if he had been this fun during broadcasts he might not have been replaced by Romo. But maybe not being on the No. 1 crew removes some stress, and when he’s outside of his job he can enjoy himself a bit more. Either way, it’s a ton of fun to watch.
