It’s Friday night and the weekend’s here, you need to unwind... where’s the party?

We’re just picking two games for the evening and saving our energy for the big props on Super Bowl Sunday, so let’s make a couple choices that can hopefully turn those into a freeroll.
VCU -1 at Rhode Island
We’ve got the Rams as a lock in this one! But the road team Rams are catching the point they were giving this morning. It looks like the money came in on the higher-ranked A-10 team that has a smidge more quality this season.
The Commonwealth has won four in a row, including a Philly sweep last weekend on the road against St. Joe’s and La Salle. Nobody for VCU plays more than 26 minutes a game, and the waves that they come at people in helps to translate their game away from home.
Rhode defends the perimeter quite well (best against the three-pointer in their conference), but VCU wants to get to the hole. Last time these two teams met, VCU had just a .358 eFG on their home floor. That won’t happen twice against a team that doesn’t play elite defense. Rams... to flip it.
Yale -14.5 vs. Columbia
I’m sure Columbia is a wonderful place to attend as an undergrad. Right in the middle of Manhattan, beautiful facilities, basketball as the soul of your city... so why are the Lions so brutally awful?? 6-12, and 1-1 in the Ivy after a split with Cornell. CORNELL!
Meanwhile Yale and junior forward Paul Atkinson are really good, lost in OT to a tough Penn State team in Happy Valley, lost by three to a way-more-athletic-but-still-bad-UNC, and are undefeated at home. This should turn into a blowout as Columbia just doesn’t have the horses. Avoid the backdoor cover and walk away a winner.
