The Titans offense ignited once the team made the switch to QB Ryan Tannehill. Once the change was made, the Titans would go on to post a 7-4 record while averaging 29 points per game. This is the toughest matchup the Titans receivers will face this season, against a Patriots secondary that held opposing receivers to the lowest DKFP total per game, (26.2), second-lowest receiving yard average (125) and only four total touchdowns scored. Despite that, it’s hard to ignore what Tannehill has not only done for this offense as a whole but their receivers. Even with the tough matchup on tap, we have to consider both Brown and Davis for Wild Card weekend.
Fantasy Football Analysis: Tennessee Titans WRs A.J. Brown, Corey Davis
Brown ($7,400) has been the biggest beneficiary since Tannehill took over at QB. In the nine-game span these two have played together this season, Brown is averaging 16.7 DKFP and 5.8 targets per game. He’ll likely see CB Stephon Gilmore, who ended the regular season allowing a 49% catch rate on 96 targets for an average of 13.3 yards per reception and was only scored on once. For what it’s worth, Gilmore did have one of his worst games of the season in Week 17 against the Dolphins, allowing seven receptions on nine targets for 119 yards to DeVante Parker. Even with the tough coverage, Brown is worth using as a pairing with Tannehill, as he’s been the go-to option.
Davis ($3,800) is your perfect example of a boom-or-bust tournament option. The “bust” portion has emerged more often than not, however, Davis sees enough targets to warrant attention. With Tannehill, he’s averaging 4.6 targets and just 7.6 DKFP. In coverage, he should draw CB J.C. Jackson, who allowed a 49% catch rate on 63 targets for an average of 10.6 YPR while being scored upon once. Like Gilmore, he didn’t end his season on a high note, allowing six receptions on nine targets for 52 yards and 8.7 YPR. While Davis draws the softer matchup of the two, he’s reserved for tournaments only.
