The Denver Broncos are on to their third quarterback in four games. Drew Lock is injured and Jeff Driskel tanked in his Week 3 opportunity, so the stage now belongs to Brett Rypien, a 2019 undrafted free agent from Boise State. He came in relief of Driskel during the fourth quarter of last week’s game and completed eight of nine passes for just 53 yards. That ninth pass was picked off by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. But that short look was enough for the Broncos to tab him as their starter for Thursday night’s meeting with the New York Jets.
Fantasy Football analysis: Broncos QB Brett Rypien
So, how desperate are you? The Jets do not have a strong defense, and Rypien does have some good targets in the likes of Jerry Jeudy, KJ Hamler and Noah Fant. But considering that this is Rypien’s first career start and that the Jets have allowed more than 60 fantasy points to running backs over the past two weeks, Denver would be well-advised to hide their greenhorn QB behind Melvin Gordon and Co. on Thursday.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
No. Definitely not in season-long leagues. Rypien costs $5,500 on DraftKings if you want to punt at quarterback in order to bulk up your roster elsewhere.
